For patients & families

Understand your care

Start with your GP to discuss whether a psychiatric assessment may be appropriate. A referral is reviewed for suitability before an appointment can be offered.

  • Read about the consultation process and costs before deciding.
  • For telehealth, use a private space, a reliable connection and a device with a camera and microphone.
  • For children and adolescents, clarify who can consent and who should attend. A parent or guardian’s access to information depends on the circumstances.
Already have a clinic appointment or form link?

Use the instructions sent specifically for your appointment. If a form link has expired or does not work, use the verified contact details in that correspondence to request help. Do not send health records to an unconfirmed address or create a second referral to fix a technical issue.

Explore the care pathway

A thoughtful process,
from first contact to follow-up.

From referral review to consultation, the aim is to make each step clear and help you understand what to expect.

  1. 01

    A referral from your doctor

A referral outlines your concerns, relevant history and the reason for specialist assessment. Referral information must be shared through an approved secure channel.

  2. 02

    Clinical review

A psychiatrist will consider clinical fit, urgency and whether telehealth and the service scope are suitable.

  3. 03

    Information before booking

If an appointment can be offered, the person will receive the confirmed fees, Medicare information, privacy terms and booking details before deciding whether to proceed.

  4. 04

    Consultation and next steps

After a consultation, follow-up and correspondence with the referrer may be arranged where appropriate and authorised.
